About Us

Kristin is a Southern Georgia belle, who graduated from UGA as a veterinarian May 2010. Carter grew up in NC, went on to seminary, became an ordained pastor, and has completed his doctorate of ministry. After retiring from full-time ministry, Carter is thoroughly enjoying being a financial advisor (and volunteering on the ministry side of things). After about a month of emailing, asking questions, and going through the steps of eharmony.com, we were full of excitement and became very eager to meet one another face to face. October 25, 2009, we met and enjoyed every minute together. We had no doubt God was going to strengthen our relationship with Him as well as with one another. Carter proposed August 9, 2010 on the boat in the middle of Lake Wylie at sunset. Kristin said "Yes" after some happy tears. We got married April 2, 2011 and what an amazing beautiful day that was! God has continued to bless us throughout our marriage. On May 18, 2017, our family grew when God gave us our son, Micah. We look forward to see what He has in store for us each and every day. We are super blessed to be serving the Lord wherever we are. God is constantly surprising us with new callings!

Pastor's Porch: August

I have really enjoyed preaching through Robert Boyd Munger’s “My Heart Christ’s
Home.” I hope you have taken it to heart and have been working on letting Jesus
Christ into all areas of your life. It is so easy to close doors and keep Jesus out of
certain areas of our lives. Yet, He truly wants to be our friend and be a part of our
complete lives, not just on Sunday and Bible Study Days!

It is so important to abide in Jesus Christ. That is my prayer for us as a church: that
we continue to trust more and more on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, each and
every day. We will finish up this series this month with a big conclusion on August
28th as we turn the keys of our heart to Jesus Christ.

Starting September 11th, we will kick off our fall sermon series and small groups,
which I am VERY excited about. I will be preaching through the book of Galatians
this fall, so get excited about spending time and going through a book of the Bible
together as a church. To prepare, you can start reading through Galatians. I have
been reading through it repeatedly as I am preparing for the fall and the beautiful
thing about scripture is that EACH and every time I read it, God shows me
something new! The Bible is such a LIVING book that way because it is from a
LIVING God! Even if you are reading a passage for the 100th or the 1,000th time,
God will still show and teach us new things!

I encourage us all to start reading through Galatians as well as praying through it
and meditating on it. It is going to be a fun journey we will go through this fall, and I
can’t wait to go through it with my family here at Glades!

Kristin and I both love you all!

All Around Us

Have you ever had one of those moments that could linger into a frustrating and aggravating time, but quicker than you know, it turns into a "God wink" moment? Happens all the time, doesn't it?

Off to the airport we went...Carter was dropping me off to go spend a few days with Mom. Traffic was heavy. Airport check and security had a decent amount of other folks eager to get to their gates so they don't miss their flights.

When I can, I always prefer to just pack a carry-on to make things flow smoother once I get to my destination.  I hit the security section of the airport, put my license back in my bag, took my shoes off, ..., went through the spinning camera scan check, and then have to wait AGAIN to have my bag double-checked.  Something set off the belt alarm through the initial scan.

A gruff, super tall, football player built older man with a stern voice asks, "Whose bag is this?" "Yes, Sir. That's my bag,” I answered with a big smile on my face (of course, while my thoughts were trying to go through what all is in my bag that could have possibly set the alarm off). I couldn't help but wonder what I may have accidentally put it there... Hmmm...

What do you think set it off? Something I always travel with...  What's your guess? Ready...get this...it was my bible!  I laughed.  I knew it was a "Talk to him about Me" moment.  I shared how I always travel with my bible and how I have found the importance of reading scripture every day.  How it guides me, answers many questions, reminds me of what being a Christian entails, shows me how I can be more Christ-like, and...  "Would you like to keep it?" I asked. After I asked him that, I thought to myself, "Wait, this was one of my first bibles from Carter after I graduated from vet school...and was married...it was my smaller pink one with my first ever 'Dr. Kristin K. Robinson’ on it." I knew that the devil snuck that selfish little thought in there...and then God gave me peace saying giving away a bible is by far more what sharing Christ is about.

Needless to say, the security guard explained to me how he has one but just doesn't read it very often.  I let him know that I used to be there, too.  "I had to really make it a priority despite the busyness of life and my to-do list staying a mile long.  Now, it doesn't feel like a chore; it's a want and awesome opportunity." I can't explain how these few minutes brightened my day even more. (Mind you, I was already super excited to be going home to see my Momma and Granddaddy.) I watched a very stern man with no smile soften up some and share a chuckle and smile with me at the end of our time together.

My bible has always passed through security without a problem.  It was obvious God put me where He did when He did that day. As a girlfriend said when I briefly shared this story with her, "Keep planting those seeds, Sister." I am humbled to be able to do exactly that with strangers as well as those I know.  God allows us to cross paths with certain people each and every day.  Yet again, I was super blessed today that He trusted me and gave me the words I needed right when I needed them.  God is good...all the time!

I have already purchased my next plane ticket, and I can’t wait to see what God has planned for my airport/airplane adventure coming up…

Pastor's Porch: July

What does it mean to be Christ Centered?

The officers of the church had a retreat in June, and in it, the concept of “Christ Centered” was presented from the book “Move.”

As Christians (those who have faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior), we are called to be His disciples. Each of us. Christian and Disciple should be synonyms. If we are a Christian, we are called not to be baby Christians, but called to become “Christ Centered.” Every youth and child in the church of course wants to grow up and become adults so that they will be mature.

Hebrews 6:1 “Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity.”

If your elementary teachers let you stay forever in elementary school, did they do a good job as a teacher?

The goal of teachers is to help their students grow, learn, and move to the next
level.

As Christians, we are also called to continuously grow. We canNOT be a disciple of Jesus Christ if we aren’t growing. We MUST be growing in Jesus Christ to be a disciple of His.

Let’s take that a step farther. Disciple = Christian. Therefore, if we are a Christian, we must be growing. There are no stagnant Christians! If you are stagnant, what does that mean then?

Revelation 3:15-17 “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.”

Lukewarm are people who aren’t growing. If you are hot, you are growing in Jesus Christ. Otherwise, Jesus says you will be spit out!

Don’t be spit out! As a church, we know the Bible is the word of God! Therefore, it is the truth!

My prayer for us as a church is that we are all growing. Each and every one of us. The session takes this very seriously and is working hard to create the steps and opportunities for growth for each of us. But the truth is, you have to want it. You have to feel the need to grow. You aren’t going to grow unless you want to.

Want to GROW? Get passionate about growth in Jesus Christ. The steps of growth are there, but desire it. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33. First and foremost, each of us, as Christians, need to seek growth in Jesus Christ. God promises us if we do this, everything else will be given to us.

Today, grow. Tomorrow, grow. The day after tomorrow, grow.

Every day, we need to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Are you?

Where are you growing in Jesus Christ?

Is it visible to others?

If you can’t say where you have grown in Jesus Christ, then you probably aren’t growing.

If others can’t see it, then you probably aren’t growing. (Remember, fruit is ALWAYS visible!)
