About Us

Kristin is a Southern Georgia belle, who graduated from UGA as a veterinarian May 2010. Carter grew up in NC, went on to seminary, became an ordained pastor, and has completed his doctorate of ministry. After retiring from full-time ministry, Carter is thoroughly enjoying being a financial advisor (and volunteering on the ministry side of things). After about a month of emailing, asking questions, and going through the steps of eharmony.com, we were full of excitement and became very eager to meet one another face to face. October 25, 2009, we met and enjoyed every minute together. We had no doubt God was going to strengthen our relationship with Him as well as with one another. Carter proposed August 9, 2010 on the boat in the middle of Lake Wylie at sunset. Kristin said "Yes" after some happy tears. We got married April 2, 2011 and what an amazing beautiful day that was! God has continued to bless us throughout our marriage. On May 18, 2017, our family grew when God gave us our son, Micah. We look forward to see what He has in store for us each and every day. We are super blessed to be serving the Lord wherever we are. God is constantly surprising us with new callings!

The Power of Being Quiet

We were in a Coaching Webinar several months ago and as I was sharing an experience with the rest of our team, our awesome facilitator and leader caught the power in what I had just shared.  She said, “Say that again.”  So I did… “There is so much power in the silence.”  In a hot second, so many other thoughts hit me that went with this statement.

There is power in silence!  Whether that be in Coaching or our every day lives as we live for the Lord and strive to be like Christ.

One that really came to me was “Silence in waiting for the answer(s) to a prayer takes patience but WOW and thanks comes when it’s answered.”

When listening to someone who just needs that listening ear…

We were given two ears and only one mouth!

When something negative, rude, or insulting arises, it’s best to just not say anything at all.

I am confident that more will come to me as time passes in regards to this, but I felt the need to share this for now.  Where have you seen the power of being quiet? Have you ever thought about the truth behind that before?  I hadn’t really.

All to Him

While a “little sister/mentee/daughter” and I walked on the beach one day, we passed a few half sand dollars.  Immediately, I looked at her and commented, “Wow!  God just reminded me that we are supposed to give ALL of ourselves/our lives…EVERYTHING…to Him.  Not just “part of our life.”  He was loud and clear stating that there should be no if’s, and’s, or but’s.  What am I holding onto that is preventing me from living 100% whole heartedly for the Lord?  What about you?

Duke and His Little Sister

As ya’ll know, we unexpectantly lost our first four legged baby boy right before Christmas last year, and boy did it tear us up!  We still get down and upset when we think about it.  Duke was the best black lab ever...a son whose memories will live on forever in our hearts!

Over time, we have pulled some of Duke’s old toys, bowls, etc out for our 10 month old Golden Retriever, Joy.  As we have done this, I thought, “Awe, look, Duke left his stuff behind for his little sister.”

Making this a short and sweet entry, God nudged me in these thoughts about Duke and Joy and asked, “What will you leave behind? What legacy will you be known for?”  Will it glorify God, yourself, or culture?”

Airport Joy

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:8-9

While out and about a while ago, I was deep in my Bible in 90 Days reading.  I hear this older gentleman’s voice, look up, and he and his wife were both being pushed in their wheel chairs. He wasn’t mad he was in a wheelchair; he was jovial!  He was sharing with the assistant how blessed he was that the Lord had him, his wife, and their marriage in the palm of His hands.  I just grinned ear to ear.   As they wheeled by me, he asked to slow down, he smiled, noticed my smile and that I was reading the Bible, and said, “Wow!  You understand the blessings I am talking about and the joy that comes from only Him, don’t you?”  “Yes, Sir.  I do.”  He continued, “Keep reading the best book ever…it’s easy to make excuses or let a busy schedule get in the way.  Congrats on that miracle growing inside you. Thank God left and right for that little one.”  “Have an awesome day! God is so good.”  “Oh yes, He is!”  And away they went on to their proper gate.

Some questions that came up in my mind:

Am I sharing God’s joy with others no matter where I am or the situation at hand?

Do I share Him with any and everybody?

Am I thanking God for His many blessings each and every day?  (Side note: Carter and I have since had Micah but yes, we continue to thank God for sharing this little Peanut with us and making us his parents.)

What excuses get in the way of being in God’s word?  (Or living it for that matter?)

What about you?  How would you respond to those questions?

Love ya’ll!  Join me in counting those blessings and glorifying Him by sharing Him with everybody you can!

Claim It! June: Pastor's Porch

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” - Galatians 5:22-24
It's check in time... How are YOU doing claiming the fruit of the Spirit?
Are you saying “I am joy, I am love, I am peace...”? If you can’t say it, you probably won’t be doing it!
Have you noticed that most people say the opposite of what they mean? They say: “I can’t and I don’t.” And the truth is, as long as we talk like that, we NEVER will or can. If you haven’t started yet, start today by saying: “I can, I will, and I DO have.”
Start by speaking that “I can”. Today, quit using self defeating language of “I can’t” and start claiming that “I am the fruit of the Spirit.” Notice where you are already exhibiting fruit of the Spirit and focus on the positive? Congratulate yourself on where you are already living the fruit of the Spirit. You are already living it somewhere in your life! Yea! Congratulations!
Now you know you can be the fruit of the Spirit. Expand on that. As you focus on the positive, help that positive grow into other aspects and areas of your life. They will grow and expand. The more we focus on where Christ is already working and doing great things in our lives, the more it will expand into other areas of our lives.
I am joy. I am peace. I am love... In this, check what’s going on this month in YOU claiming the fruit of the Spirit.
I know something is going right for you this month. Take time to celebrate! Focus on the positive! Help the positive expand!
Remember: the fruit is a free gift of Christ. We just have to claim. The only way we don’t have the fruit is because we don’t accept them.

“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” - Philippians 4:13

Easter Every Sunday: May Pastor's Porch

What if we celebrated Easter every Sunday? Guess what? We do!

Wouldn’t it be great if our church was as excited as Easter morning every Sunday?

We can be!!!

All it takes is for YOU to be that excited!

Wouldn’t it be cool if we had as many people worshipping with us as we did Easter Sunday?

We could.

All it takes if for YOU to come and bring people with you.

If you went through B90, you know the way God plans to grow His church. If you didn’t take B90, ask someone who did. How God plans to grow His Church…

But a little hint: it is going to take YOU! Everyone! Everyone excited about coming to Worship weekly, taking part in studies, and also bringing others. If we don’t bring them, they won’t come.

If you build it, they will come… Not true, it was a movie. Today, it takes bringing someone. It works. Every time you bring someone with you, they will come! Think about it…

If you bring them, they will come!

If you bring them and show up excited, it will be like Easter EVERY Sunday!

HE IS RISEN: April Pastor's Porch

Easter is a fun time of the year to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I’m always excited to celebrate Jesus at the resurrection. I think Easter is such a great time to not only celebrate Christ, but also to SHARE the excitement and resurrection with others. Easter is still a holiday where people are more likely than others to actually come to church. I know there are people out there who would only come Easter Sunday who don’t usually come to church. There are people who, if asked (maybe asked a couple of times and reminded), will say “yes” and maybe they need to be picked up or met somewhere. However, they are only interested in coming to church on Easter Sunday. Because of that, all members and friends of Glades need to take some time these next few weeks and reach out to those people that we know who don’t have a church home or don’t worship regularly.

What I LOVE about Easter is that we celebrate it EVERY SUNDAY.

That is why Christians worship Sunday instead of the Jewish Saturday worship: because we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ every week.

That is the celebration and joy that we celebrate weekly as we gather with the Body of Christ (remember that is what God considers Glades!).

Matthew 28:5b-7a “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell!”

As we think about worship each Sunday, let’s remember that every week, we celebrate Easter here at Glades and that we are told to GO QUICKLY and tell!

March: Pastor's Porch

On Sunday, February 19th, I preached about heart change....
I wanted to take a moment and re-challenge ourselves and ask the question: “How is your heart of worship?”
After the king was settled in his palace and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies around him, he said to Nathan the prophet, "Here I am, living in a palace of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent." (2 Samuel 7:1-2 )
We talked about how David had a heart of worship. His heart was so much on worshipping God that David made it a priority.
I said there were 3 ways to show and prove that you have a heart of worship:
1. Make Sunday Morning Worship a priority.
On your weekly calendar, is Sunday Morning Worship something that is on it and you rarely, if ever, have a conflict? If you do, it’s not because conflicts don’t come up. There is ALWAYS something OTHER to do than come to church. But do you take worship seriously enough to say NO and to actually make Sunday Morning Worship the 1# priority? Yes, that can be hard to do. So I ask the question then: How is YOUR heart of worship? If worship is what you do on Sundays when there is nothing else to do or if worship is not something that you do on a weekly basis, then maybe you need a heart of worship transplant.
2. Sing like no one is listening.
When David returned home to bless his household, Michal, daughter of Saul, came out to meet him and said, “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!” David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the Lord. I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.” (2 Samuel 6:20-22)
David, King of the united and of Israel, praised God with all that he was! His wife was embarrassed of him dancing in the streets, and she complained to him. David replied, “I will become even more undignified than this!” David didn’t care who was watching; he was out of control in his worship of God. When was the last time that you got so out of control worshipping God that people complained? Has it EVER happened to you before?
David was considered “A Man after God’s Own heart.” David was a singer. Before he was king, he would sing to King Saul. David is credited with the authorship of the majority of Psalms. I think part of the reason that David was a man after God’s own heart was because he was always singing and worshipping God. Do you have a heart to worship Him through song? If not, what is it going to take to get your heart there?
“Sing to the Lord, all the earth proclaim His salvation day after day!” (1 Chronicles 16:23)
3. Worship through-out life.
Being a part of weekly corporate worship is VITAL. It is a key element to our faith to worship with the Body of Christ. I would go as far to say that we really can’t even claim to follow Christ if we are not willing to be a part of the Body of Christ and worship together weekly. But there is more. Worship is also a daily heart matter. Our hearts should be so set on God that our daily lives should be as of worship to God. Everything we do should glorify Him.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, at present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:1-2)
How is your heart of worship? Do you need heart surgery? A heart tweak? An open heart surgery? Or a complete heart transplant?
No matter where you are, God wants you to have a heart of worship for Him. He WILL help you change or transplant your heart when you are ready.
Are you ready? What about today?

Lord God, please give me a heart of worship, to worship with your body (the church) weekly, to sing like no one is watching, and to live a life of worship. I know I have a long way to go. But please, Lord, give me a heart that pleases You. Amen.

What does life/leadership coaching with me, Kristin, look like?  Here are a few descriptions straight from a few of my clients:

“Kristin has a tuned ear for listening. She’s patient and insightful. Whenever we talk, I can tell that she genuinely wants me to do well in life.”

"I was very skeptical at first, but I have been amazed how the experience thus far has captured my subconscious and sometimes irrational thought processes."

“Coaching with Kristin has helped me prioritize what things I need to be focusing on to move toward my life goals. She has helped me verbalize and realize some things I probably knew were there but just didn’t give much thought to before. Not to mention, I love the accountability!”

My quick summary: Coaching allows the space for my clients to grow, think out loud, set some goals, see how awesome they really are, and to reach for goals using their full potential to be exactly who they were created to be.  My clients have realized there is always room for growth in a variety of areas in life!  I am able to listen and ask you questions from a place of love as well as from a heart full of compassion, patience, and acceptance.

A few of my own personal experiences:  When I was being coached, I grew leaps and bounds in regards to…
*Being a pastor’s wife…the wife God called me to be
*Becoming a new mom super soon
*How to keep being ME and not letting all my other titles degrade who I truly am
*How to keep a healthy balance in life
*How to work through rumors/criticisms/lies that arise about those I love
*To be reminded I am not alone
*Prioritizing my crazy non-stop “to do” lists
*Being excited to keep “date nights” despite the discouragement and pull from other areas of life, like ministry and my husband fulfilling his call as a pastor
*How to use the gifts and talents God has given me in a variety of life fields
*How great putting “the littlest things” on my calendar can really be
*How to be productive AND still get rest and sleep

And that’s just to name some of many!  WOW, talk about powerful and uplifting!!!!  Life changing!

With that being said, I know coaching can be super rewarding for any spouse, college student, student transitioning into the work force, medical professional, educator, one happy already in their career, and for that matter ANY body who is ready to grow into an even better YOU…someone ready to move in the awesome forward direction from where you are now to where you want to be.

Coaching with Carter

I wanted to take a moment to tell you more about life coaching with me, Carter. Coaching is a powerful time where space is given for the client to grow and put together action steps to get them where they want to be in life.  It has personally helped me build confidence as a pastor, to create a better balance between ministry and home, to live a more fulfilling life, to not just accept what I get, but to actually get what I want to accept.  Coaching has helped me connect to God and learn more about what makes me tick.

I think coaching is a powerful gift to any pastor, college student, young adult, or anyone who is working to be more than they are currently and all that God wants them to be from here on out.

Do you know someone or are you yourself ready to get more out of life?  Ready to accomplish goals and dreams that you have been putting off or thinking you might never get to because they have just been dreams for so long?  Please share my contact with whoever you are thinking is ready for this transformation, or if you are ready, let’s chat!  I’m trying to get as much experience as possible coaching, and I am reaching out to see if you would be willing to try out coaching.  I offer a 1 hour “How can coaching transform my life” free session.  I know as I have talked to folks that many people really aren’t exactly sure what “coaching” is, and honestly, the best way to find out is experience it for yourself!
