As I was driving to church Sunday morning, I was singing at the top of my lungs “Friend of Sinners” by Casting Crowns. Next thing I knew, I was braking in the middle of the road (no stop sign around). A gaggle of geese were crossing the road (gaggle=flock of geese on the ground, not in flight). There was an obvious goose leader...the leader crossed the road with about 10 geese following behind. Then, the same lead goose went back and got the rest of the crew of about 15 more geese. Then they all crossed together. They all safely made it across the road and into the church yard.
As I was reflecting on this incident, I thought, “Who/what are we following?” A boss? Sunday school leader? Pastor? Coach? Your spouse? A teacher? Job? Sports? God? A friend? The bible says it who knows how many times...we are supposed to follow Him. Follow His lead! Follow Him with all of our heart! Whole heartedly! Are you following Him? What about His word? Are you willing to pick up your cross daily to follow Him?
I challenge us all to take time to figure out what gets in our way of trusting and following Him first and foremost at all times.
